“Clown doctors are real nobodies, dumber than anyone. But their deluded nature allows everyone else to suddenly become clever and smart”, says Dr. Rice, Ilze Sirmā

Today I am in a clown pair with the charming Dr. Aizmārša (Elīze Šulte ). We create a dance step in the corridor of the department, and we continue dancing in that spirit. And evening semi-darkness. The ward door is wide open and a teenager is lying in bed. We enter the ward and dance until we hit the wall. What now? We turn to a teenager for advice. She just shrugs.

Then I asked Dr Obamars, “What now?”, but of course she has forgotten. We are completely bewildered!

Again we turn to the teenager: ‘Where? Where is the exit from this ward?” The girl has already sat up in bed and is staring at us. Long dark hair falls over her shoulders. She shrugs and claps her hands, but says nothing. Ah! The rules of the game have been made – the clown doctors will not be able to leave the ward until the girl tells us where the exit is. She is in control, we are in control.

The events that follow in the ward are active, and eventually lead to us starting to talk strangely – as if we had no teeth. It’s also crazy funny for them, and it’s hard at the same time, because emotions are so heightened that you have to be careful not to fall out of the image of the clown.

We are doing everything, bordering on desperation, to get the teenager to finally tell us where the exit is, to finally get us out. But she is clearly delighted with the power she has been given. A girl glows in a half-dark ward!

Then she puts her lips around her teeth so you can’t see them, sticks her finger out towards the ward door and says in a super funny voice: “That’s the way out!” Fuuuh, we are so grateful for the help, we show it in every way before we even leave the doomed ward.

🔴 In a hospital environment, a child loses control over what happens to him or her. Then come the clown doctors and, if only for a moment, give the child back the confidence to be in charge of his or her own life. Moreover, a child can even become a support for others, a great and competent assistant to the deluded clown doctors.
